Abstract

Hallucinations are one of the symptoms of mental disorders characterized by sensory perceptions without actual stimuli from the environment, which can affect the psychological and social well-being of patients. A health counseling session on the topic "How to Control Hallucinations" was conducted on December 30, 2024, at the Outpatient Unit of the West Java Provincial Mental Hospital. This activity aimed to educate patients with mental disorders experiencing hallucinations about how to recognize, understand, and manage these symptoms, as well as to enhance the active role of families in supporting the patients' recovery. The counseling employed methods such as lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and demonstrations. The material presented included definitions, types, causes, signs, symptoms, the process of hallucinations, the role of families, and strategies to control hallucinations. The outcome of this activity is expected to enable patients to understand the basic concepts of hallucinations, recognize early symptoms, and apply effective ways to manage them. This counseling session serves as a strategic step to support patients in achieving mental balance and improving their quality of life, while also strengthening family support as an essential part of the recovery process.
